Currently, there are more than 250 public and private limited organizations operating in the industry. To serve the increasing demand of foods and grab the opportunity of phenomenal growth, entrepreneurs are being highly attracted to the industry. In recent 4/5 years, the number of organizations in food and allied industry has significantly increased due to the increase in per capita income to $1,754 in 2018 which was $890 in 2000. The industry has experienced the phenomenal growth of 7.7% from FY2010-11to FY2017-18. The growth rate of the industry is significantly higher than that of current GDP of 7.65%. The total market value of production of food and allied sector is $4.5 billion USD industry. This industry also contributes 2.2% of the total GDP of the country. Bangladesh exports foods in more than 90 countries including Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and USA etc.
